Sell my Portuguese car: your questions

Will you buy a car still registered in Portugal?

Yes. Cars on the newest plates (AA-00-AA), on older plates with the yellow year band (00-AA-00 or 00-00-AA), and Portuguese cars that already carry a UK V5C.

Must I register the car in the UK first?

No. You can sell it to us still registered in Portugal. The UK registration and DVLA work can be handled by us.

What documents should I have ready?

The Certificado de Matrícula in your name (or the Documento Único Automóvel on older cars), photo ID, every key and any service records. Your latest IPO report helps too.

My NIF is on the registration. Is that relevant?

In Portugal a car is registered against the owner's NIF (tax number). Having it to hand lets us match you to the papers. Please bring your passport as photo ID as well.

Are there makes you will not buy?

No. Every make on Portuguese plates is welcome: Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, VW, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Fiat, Dacia, SEAT and the rest.

Is left-hand drive a reason to pay less?

Left-hand drive is our speciality, so we value your car as a Portuguese LHD car with its own buyers, not as a faulty right-hand drive car.

How do I get paid?

A bank transfer is made while our driver is still with you. It is usually in your account in minutes, and the car stays with you until you see it.

The car is still in Portugal. Will you collect it?

Collection from mainland Europe, Portugal included, can be arranged. Say where the car is when you ask for a valuation and we will explain how it would work.

Is there a charge for collection?
